Asurgarh MIP is a water body of 50.00 Ha situated 5 Kms away form Narla block Head Quarters. A sum of Rs. 3,87,575/- was allocated during the year 2002-03 through RLATP for enhancement of fish production in the reservoir so as to have a sustainable yield. The main objective was to give employment to local fishermen. In order to raise fingerlings captive nurseries of 0.50 Ac has been provided. For better exploitation boats and nets have been supplied. Fish landing Shed has been constructed in the periphery of the reservoir for handling and marketing of the fish. 60 nos of fishermen have been trained in fish seed rearing; capture fisheries, cooperative management, net mending, and reservoir fisheries management. The above picture shows the fishermen ready to go out for fishing with the boats and nets provided under the scheme in the reservoir. |
